Stress workshops
The purpose of these workshops is to offer participants a wider understanding, for themselves and others, of the issues surrounding stress (with particular focus on work related stress), and thereby to work more effectively and minimise the impact of stress on themselves and others. The workshops are aimed at employers, managers, employees, and anyone who is or thinks they might be experiencing stress. Workshops are arranged to order and are usually held on site, though they can also be held at our premises in Tonbridge or Sevenoaks. We have recently sold a series of these workshops to Sevenoaks District Council.
By the end of the 3 hour workshop participants will be able to:
- identify the true meaning of what stress is
- define stress and recognise the symptoms
- understand the national extent of stress within the workplace
- relate to peoples’ experiences
- know how, why and when to carry out a stress risk assessment for themselves and others
- look after their own well being
- be able to recognise key elements of a work policy to minimise stress
Included in the programme are:
- the law relating to stress
- how widespread is the problem?
- a personal perspective from the facilitator followed by a question and answer session
- the difference between stress and pressure
- risk factors and carrying out a risk assessment for stress
- dealing with a stressful situation – the “unreasonable demand”
- available help
- key elements for a policy to minimise stress
The program is devised and facilitated by Phillip Kessel, a retired local government officer with 30 years experience at several managerial levels. His career was curtailed by 2 episodes of depression and anxiety through work related stress. He later spent time promoting and presenting the Mental Health Awareness workshop developed by the Sevenoaks Area Mental Health Awareness Group. Although Phil, as he likes to be known, has no formal qualifications in the field of stress, he can and does say, “Been there and got the T-shirt”.
Workshops are £225 (voluntary sector £195) and accommodate from 8 to 20 participants – costing from only £9.75 per participant! Contact us for more details and to discuss your specific requirements.
