Day Opportunities

We run a range of activities and groups that are intended to support people with different mental health needs to move forward, make new friends, have fun, and rebuild their skills and confidence. People are welcome to join in as many or as few of the activities as they like (subject to demand).

Sessions take place in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, and in the community. We also offer services in the Edenbridge area, and have recently launched a bi-weekly Forum in Edenbridge.

Sevenoaks Centre

Open Session – Mondays 1pm – 5pm. An informal open access session for people with mental health needs who require support and want to meet with others in a safe and relaxed setting. There is an opportunity to meet with support staff and find out more about what services, activities and community resources are available. Refreshments are available at a cost of £1 per session. No need to make an appointment (although you can if you prefer), just turn up! You will need to complete a short form which you can do online at the bottom of this page, or when you are here. If you have a care co-ordinator they will also have a copy of the form.

Self Help Group – fortnightly on Tuesdays 1pm – 3pm. An opportunity to talk about anything that you may feel you need support with, in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

Cook And Eat – Wednesdays 10am – 1pm. This group gives you the opportunity to prepare, cook, serve and eat a meal as a group.

Art Workshop – Wednesdays 2pm – 4pm. Create art, your own or in collaboration with others. All skill levels welcome.

Camera Club – Thursdays 2pm – 4pm. Share your skills and learn from others with your digital camera.

Craft Group – fortnightly on Thursdays 2pm – 4pm. Crochet, knitting, making lavender bags, or maybe you have an idea of your own.

Music Group – Fridays 2pm – 4pm. If you enjoy music and would like to take part, perhaps with instruments or singing.

Tonbridge Centre

Social Drop-In Club – Mondays 1pm – 4pm. This group is run by two Peer Support volunteers. Come and join us for coffee and friendly company.

Self Help Group for Depression & Anxiety – fortnightly on Tuesdays 11am – 12:30pm. An opportunity to talk with others who experience similar feelings.

Men’s Group – Fridays 2pm – 4pm. An opportunity for men to meet and share experiences and ideas.

Community

Altered Art – fortnightly on Tuesdays 10am – 12pm. Art for all workshops – temporarily suspended while we look for a new venue.

Creative Writing for All – 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month,  2pm – 4pm at Sevenoaks Library, Buckhurst Lane, Sevenoaks TN13 1LQ. Meet upstairs by the coffee machine. A small, friendly, informal group for people wiht mental health problems who hae an interest in reading and writing, and would like to share that interest with otheres in a safe and supportive environment. The group is led by a local poet and a member of staff. Refreshments are available from the vending machine If you would like to attend you can either turn up on the day or contact our staff team who will arrange to meet you before the group. You will need to complete a short form (unless you have already one so for another of our groups or activities) which you can do online at the bottom of this page, or when you are here. If you have a care co-ordinator they will also have a copy of the form.

Indoor Bowls – Tuesdays 2pm – 4pm. At the Hollybush Indoor Bowls Centre.

Ladies Coffee Group - 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, 12:30pm – 1:30pm at Valentina’s, 143 High Street, Sevenoaks, TN13 1UX. A small and friendly group of women, who have experienced mental health difficulties, meet in a local coffee bar to offer informal support to each other. An opportunity to meet other women in similar situations, to share experiences, and make new connections over a coffee. You will need £2-£3 to buy a drink. Art workshop at Knole House – fortnightly on Wednesdays 2pm – 4pm. Be included in the 2012 Exhibition in the Orangery!

We also offer a 1 -1 Community Support Service. This is a very individualised service offering support in accessing ordinary activities in ordinary places. This service is to enable individuals to gain independence and increase self confidence in making choices for themselves. You can use this service for as long as you need.
